Localization Games Technology Supervisor

EA Localization team are accountable for delivering the high-quality Localized versions of EA games. You will work on a wide variety of tools and systems used for the localization of games, web titles, marketing materials, etc. Those systems will have modules for Business & Project Management, workflow automation, CRM, Text, Audio, Image and video asset management and distribution of those assets to/from our vendors and external partners.

The Challenge Ahead:

The Technical Supervisor of the Internationalization and Games Technology area is accountable for managing the direction of the team and individuals assigned to this area of the Localization Engineering department. As technical lead, you must be capable of understanding and developing game runtime code and asset pipeline tools to ensure the seamless delivery of any localized versions of an EA Product or core gaming technology (Unity, Unreal Engine/Editor or Frostbite among others), with special attention to strategic and emergent markets and/or languages. For this, you should be able to translate strategic objectives into actual code and deliverables and drive the assigned team towards a successful fulfilment of those goals.

Requisitos mínimos

The next great EA Localization Games Technology Supervisor also needs:
•University degree (BSc) in Software Engineering or similar background.
•8+ years of professional experience in software development preferably in the game development or interactive entertainment industry.
•Software development (OOP) experience programming in C++ and .NET framework (C#), in gaming or closed platforms. Java is a plus.
•Deep knowledge of software engineering and architectural best practices and tools: CI, TDD, SOLID, KISS, etc.
•Strong debugging skills, performance optimization, working against a tight memory budget and fluent in reading code.
•Fluent in English (written and spoken).

The following skills, will help you to be successful in the role:
•Understanding of game architecture, game UI and game assets pipelines.
•Experience with scripting languages (Ant, Python, Perl).
•Experience in software localization and internationalization: Unicode, encodings, text rendering, fonts, text rendering right-to-left (Arabic), etc.
•Knowledge of game development engines and frameworks (Unity, Unreal Engine, etc) and Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo SDKs.
•Previous experience in the videogames industry.
•Previous experience in Agile environments.

What a Localization Games Technology Supervisor needs to be successful at EA:
•Ability to align to strategic objectives (new languages, new markets) and translate them into runtime code, content pipelines (on screen text, audio and fonts) and content management tools/systems to deliver an EA product.
•Develop and maintain key localization libraries and tools in a wide variety of languages (C++, C# mainly), assess software engineering teams on implementation and stakeholders (technical and non-technical) on use.
•Lead key developments with a team of Software Engineers or across several teams of Software Engineers within the department, proactively sharing the knowledge and mentoring new members on this area of expertise.
•Understand game engine behaviour, runtime code and content pipelines to adapt and extend it to seamlessly deliver new languages in the product.
•Ability to apply reverse engineering and debugging techniques in order to identify issues and solve them out.
•Translate requirements into designs, break down into development tasks and negotiate the implementation plan with stakeholders.
•Understand the business unit technology and make the best use of it to deliver the toolset and infrastructure used to localize the game.
•Develop a solid network of key contacts within EA around game and core technologies and practices.

You will also need to focus on:

Developing a network of key contacts across the company in order to present, discuss and even negotiate about ideas and solutions, perform collaborative technical work and find new development opportunities that improves and standardize the tools and the pipelines to deliver new and strategic added value on EA products (games or core technology)

You should be able to adapt quickly and develop across different languages, gaming platforms, technologies and frameworks.
